Affiliate disclosure: Merlin NZ is independent and reader-supported. Some links to operators may earn us a commission at no cost to you. This never changes our ratings.
N1Bet is the strongest all-round package in this group and it takes the top spot in our ranking. It is the only brand here where a slots player and a sports punter can share one account and one wallet, and the game library is deep enough that you are unlikely to run out of anything to play.
RollXO is the second-strongest brand in the group and it is a slots-first product: the styling is deliberately more “private members' club” than neon arcade, the lobby is quick, and the provider spread is genuinely broad. For a New Zealand player who mostly wants slots with a good VIP track, it is a legitimate alternative to N1Bet.
SlotLords is the purest slots product in the group and the theme is carried consistently through the lobby, the loyalty programme and the offers. If you want a casino-only account with thousands of games, no sportsbook clutter and mobile wallet deposits, it is a strong choice and it earns a top-pick badge.
RetroBet is the best-documented brand in this group, which is why it scores well on transparency even though its headline rating sits mid-table. The library is enormous, the minimum deposit and withdrawal are low by offshore standards, and the cashier covers the e-wallets New Zealand players actually use.
Spirit Casino's selling point is raw volume. The library is one of the largest in this group, the welcome package is described in New Zealand dollars rather than euros, and the minimum deposit is low. For a Kiwi player who wants the widest possible choice of slots in a single lobby, it is a genuinely good option.
Goldex is the brand in this group we can say the most positive, verifiable things about. Its licence is not a marketing claim on an affiliate page: the Curaçao Gaming Authority certificate for goldexcasino.com names Stable Tech N.V. (company 160129) under licence OGL/2024/161/0191 with an active status. For a reader who wants to know who they are dealing with, that is worth more than a bigger headline bonus.
HollyWin is a well-rounded casino-only brand with a lot of games, New Zealand-specific payment routes and a low minimum. It sits mid-table because of one term that we think deserves more attention than it usually gets: a maximum-win cap of roughly ten times on bonus and free-spin winnings.
LuckyHunter is the last entry in our ranking and the one we would approach most cautiously, for a single reason: the welcome offer is described very differently by different sources. One reports a conservative four-deposit package sourced from the binding terms with a 50x multiplier and a 10x maximum-win cap; another advertises a bigger first-deposit bonus with a maximum bet limit that the first source says does not exist. A reviewer cannot recommend a specific number when the sources contradict each other, so we do not.
| Factor | Effect on the score |
|---|---|
| Licence verifiable on a regulator certificate | Raises the safety score, which carries one sixth of the total |
| Published bonus terms that can be read and quoted | Raises bonuses and improves transparency |
| Payment methods that work for NZ players, with documented payout windows | Raises payments |
| Conflicting sources on bonus amounts or operator identity | Lowers the affected category and is disclosed in the review |
| Slow or undocumented withdrawals | A material negative, because a casino is only as good as its cashier |

In our October 2026 ranking it is N1Bet, with a score of 9.8 out of 10, because it combines the largest product range in the group with a sportsbook and NZD support. It is not licensed in New Zealand and its bonus terms could not be verified.
By our editor score, which is the average of six equally weighted categories: bonuses, games, payments, mobile experience, support and safety and licensing.
Yes. We update it when a licence status, bonus term, payment menu or payout report changes materially. Every review carries a last-updated date.
No. It is a summary of what we could verify and how the product compares. Offshore licensing means there is no New Zealand regulator to fall back on regardless of score.
