RetroBet review
Last updated: . Licence status and bonus terms re-checked 27 October 2026. Merlin NZ is independent and reader-supported. Some links to operators may earn us a commission at no cost to you. This never changes our ratings.
RetroBet is the best-documented brand in this group, which is why it scores well on transparency even though its headline rating sits mid-table. The library is enormous, the minimum deposit and withdrawal are low by offshore standards, and the cashier covers the e-wallets New Zealand players actually use.
The one thing that would worry us is the reported three-day validity on deposit bonuses. A tight expiry window combined with a 40x wagering requirement is how players lose a bonus they legitimately earned, so diarise the deadline the moment you claim it — or skip the bonus entirely and play with your own money.

What works well
- Very large game library — more than 10,000 titles across 100+ providers
- NZ$ minimum deposit and withdrawal reported at a genuinely low NZ$30
- Both Skrill and Neteller listed, plus crypto and bank transfer
- Separate high-roller welcome route for bigger first deposits
- Sportsbook for non-NZ markets, with casino and sport in one account
What to watch
- Bonus validity reported as three days, which is unusually tight
- No native app store download — it is an installable web app
- Visa and Mastercard are not listed as withdrawal methods
- No New Zealand licence, so NZ consumer law does not cover your account

Our verdict
RetroBet is the best-documented brand in this group, which is why it scores well on transparency even though its headline rating sits mid-table. The library is enormous, the minimum deposit and withdrawal are low by offshore standards, and the cashier covers the e-wallets New Zealand players actually use.
The one thing that would worry us is the reported three-day validity on deposit bonuses. A tight expiry window combined with a 40x wagering requirement is how players lose a bonus they legitimately earned, so diarise the deadline the moment you claim it — or skip the bonus entirely and play with your own money.
Licence and ownership
Independent reviews identify Stable Tech N.V. as the operator and the Curaçao Gaming Authority as the regulator, but we could not read the brand's own terms page to confirm a licence number. Treat the licence as reported rather than verified, and check the footer yourself if that matters to you.
As with every brand on this page: there is no New Zealand licence, so your account is an offshore account. New Zealand's new online casino regime, which began on 1 May 2026, is building a licensed market expected to be fully operational in 2027; none of the brands we cover here is in it.
Bonuses and promotions
The published welcome structure is four deposits with free spins attached to the first, second and fourth stages, with the third stage a straight match bonus. Reported terms include a NZ$30 minimum qualifying deposit, 40x wagering on bonus and free-spin winnings, seven days to complete wagering, and — the notable one — a three-day validity period on the bonus itself.
There is also a separate high-roller welcome route with a much higher minimum deposit (reported at around NZ$750) and a bigger match. Only use that if you were going to deposit that much anyway; a bigger bonus you cannot clear costs more than a small bonus you can.
Games and software
More than 10,000 games across 100-plus providers is the published figure, with Evolution, Pragmatic Play, NetEnt, Play'n GO, Hacksaw Gaming and Yggdrasil named explicitly. That means a full live dealer floor, the mainstream slots catalogue and enough niche studios to keep the lobby interesting for a long time.
Payments
Deposits cover Visa and Mastercard, bank transfer, Skrill, Neteller, Paysafecard, Neosurf and crypto. Withdrawals are a shorter list: Skrill, MiFinity, MuchBetter, bank transfer and crypto. Card and Paysafecard deposits cannot be withdrawn back to the same method, which is normal for the industry but catches people out.
Reported timings: casino processing within 24 hours, bank transfers up to three working days, card-based routes three to five days. NZD is supported, and the minimum for fiat deposits and withdrawals is reported at NZ$30.
Mobile experience
RetroBet is a mobile-first build and, like most of this group, offers an installable web app rather than a store-downloadable app. On a phone the lobby and cashier are both usable; the sportsbook is the busier interface and benefits from the wider screen of a tablet or desktop.
Sportsbook and the New Zealand rule
RetroBet's sportsbook is real and covers the usual international markets. We have to be blunt here: since 28 June 2025 only TAB NZ may take or promote sports and racing bets from customers located in New Zealand. Using an offshore sportsbook for New Zealand sport puts you outside the licensed route and the operator outside NZ law. If your interest is Super Rugby, the NRL, the Black Caps or New Zealand racing, our betting guides point at TAB.

What we could not verify
Publishing gaps is part of the review. These points were still open at our last check:
- The Curaçao licence number is reported by a third-party review and not confirmed against the operator's terms.
- Welcome package amounts are reported in euros by the reviewer; NZ$ equivalents are approximate.
- Withdrawal minimums for some methods and exact processing times are reported ranges.
- App availability: installable web app only, per the sources we could read.
Always confirm licence details and bonus terms on the operator's own site before you deposit. See how we rate.

Play safely in New Zealand
Gambling should be entertainment, not a way to make money. Before you deposit anywhere:
- Set a money limit and a time limit for the session, and stop at it.
- Use the account deposit limits, session reminders and time-out tools every licensed operator must provide.
- Never borrow money to gamble and never try to win back a loss.
- Take a break if gambling stops feeling like a choice.
